We have Planica and now we'll have Ljubno. Slovenia is known across the globe for its sporting tradition. It's no secret that Planica is considered to be the cradle of ski jumping. I am convinced that the Ski Association of Slovenia will work with the Organizing Committee Ljubno 2012 to build a solid foundation and make Ljubno the cradle of women’s ski jumping.
Finally, I wish to thank all sponsors of the Slovenian national team and the Ljubno event. Without them, it would not be possible to execute a World Cup event on such a high level. I wish outstanding sporting achievements to all competitors and a little bit of sporting luck to our girls, so that they achieve excellent results in front of the Slovenian audience. The success of any World Cup event depends heavily on the participation of the community and I am happy that the Ljubno municipality, spearheaded by its mayor, is fully committed to the project. This is the only way to ensure both great sports results as well as promotion for the town and its community. The Ski Association of Slovenia has worked hard to get a women’s ski jumping World Cup event and bring the historical first season of this competition to Slovenian soil. The decision to entrust the organization of the event to Ljubno was easy, given the extensive experience of SSK Ljubno BTC.The residents of Ljubno have shown in the past that they are capable of organizing a Continental Cup event, giving girls from all over the world a chance to compete in this town on the banks of Savinja.
